Jay Phelps
Jack Solomons ClubThis show is on both passes.
Jay Phelps has spent years as one of the trumpeters other bandleaders call on — the name that turns up as a guest slot or a sideman credit across the London scene — and Jazztronica is where he steps out on his own terms: trumpet and DJ set, live playing over programmed beats, the discipline of a fixed track holding its shape while his horn moves freely across the top. It's one of Soho Jazz Festival's more experimental bookings, built for a room that wants jazz's language without jazz's usual instrumentation. At Jack Solomons Club, expect a set that splits the difference between a gig and a club night.
Late sets and jams, doors from 21:00, running past midnight.
Home of the Discovery Stage. A modern continuation of Soho’s music history: established in 1948, the club was the site of Club Eleven, The Scene Club, and early performances by The Rolling Stones and The Who. Yamaha Sound xR certified, the first grassroots venue in Europe with this system, with 3D audio positioning and acoustic enhancement.

Beats, played live by anything from a single instrument to a full band. An experiment in what technology does to a room: the discipline of a fixed recording holding its line while improvisation moves freely over the top, neither giving way to the other.
