Round 41: Jihad Darwish
Piano Bar Soho9–9:30pm
This show is on both passes.
Round 41 takes its name and its spirit from 41 Great Windmill Street, where Jack Solomons once ran a boxing gym and Ronnie Scott and Tubby Hayes played after hours — anyone can step into the ring, but you have to hold your own. Jihad Darwish anchors this one from the bottom end: bass out front more than usual, walking lines that hold the jam together while horns and keys take their turns over the top. At Soho Jazz Festival, this is the room where the night stops being a fixed bill and starts being a conversation between whoever's brave enough to sit in.
The headline slot of the night, doors from 19:30 to 20:00.
An intimate live music space in Soho designed for close proximity to performers. Guests are seated near the stage, creating a direct connection between artist and audience.
Named after 41 Great Windmill Street, where Jack Solomons ran his boxing gym and Muhammad Ali trained, and where Ronnie Scott and Tubby Hayes played. The jam keeps that spirit and pulse: anyone can step up, but you have to hold your own in the ring.
