Summer Standards puts bebop trumpeter Andy Davies front and centre at Alfie's, a headliner whose film credits include La La Land and whose heart lives with Dizzy and Miles. Standards and originals across two houses above Greek Street. Direct booking, over-18s, and a very good Friday.
Alfie's is a candlelit jazz bar above Greek Street where the tables sit close enough to the stage that you can hear the band talking between numbers. A grand piano anchors the room and the cocktails are taken as seriously as the music.
Andy Davies is a bebop trumpeter who leads the Evening Standards, a jazz comedy act whose film-premiere credits include La La Land, Miles Ahead and Sex and the City. A regular headliner at Piano Bar Soho and Alfie's Soho, he draws on the bebop tradition of Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis, leading top-tier musicians through standards and original compositions. He has performed at jazz festivals across the UK and internationally and is a fixture on the Soho Live Music Club calendar.
