Matt Jacobs

Matt Jacobs is a British pianist and composer rapidly establishing himself as one of London's finest young jazz talents. A graduate of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) and former musical director of Durham University Big Band, Matt has built a reputation for dynamic, high-energy performances that fill the room with the weight and swing of a full big band. As veteran jazz vocalist Aydenne Simone puts it: "After 30 years in this business of singing jazz, pianists like Matt are not made, they are born. I love him, he is just incredible!"

Matt leads his quartet and trio at venues across London, including The Vortex Jazz Club and Pizza Express, delivering straight-ahead jazz to a consistently high standard. A regular performer at Soho Live venues including Piano Bar Soho and Alfie's Soho, Matt has become a cornerstone of our Cocktail Swing sessions, where his swinging trio sets the perfect mood for an evening of classic jazz and sophisticated drinks. He has been recognised as a Soho Live Music Club regular since 2023.

Known for his vibrant, swinging style and effortless command of the American Songbook, Matt brings both technical brilliance and infectious energy to every performance. Whether leading an intimate trio through sultry ballads or driving a quartet through hard-swinging standards, he creates an atmosphere that transports audiences to the golden age of jazz while remaining thoroughly modern.
