Tom Stringer
Tom Stringer is a London-based jazz trumpeter, composer, and arranger, currently studying at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
He draws strong inspiration from distinguished figures like Booker Little and Wynton Marsalis—echoing their expressive trumpet styles—as well as from composers such as Thelonious Monk, Kenny Wheeler, and Duke Ellington, whose compositional brilliance shapes Tom's own developing voice. His creative growth is guided by mentorship from celebrated musicians Byron Wallen, Steve Fishwick, and Laura Jurd.
Already active on the London jazz circuit, he has performed at venues including Pizza Express Live Jazz Club, Vortex Jazz Club, and Alfie’s Jazz Club—frequently in collaboration with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO), as well as various Trinity Laban big bands. Internationally, he’s appeared with NYJO at the Young Euro Classic Festival in Berlin in August 2024.
Tom has also led his own ensembles, including a distinctive quintet—notable for its trumpet/euphonium frontline—and a septet that pays homage to jazz tradition while pushing forward with a fresh, original sound inspired by the Wynton Marsalis Septet.
He’s been featured at the EFG London Jazz Festival two years in a row and regularly sells out performances at venues like MAP Studio Cafe and Karamel N22.
