Olly Chalk is an improvising pianist and composer based in South-East London whose fearless, iconoclastic approach has earned him recognition as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary British jazz. Described as "ferocious and original" by UK Jazz News and "a virtuoso pianist with a compelling and unique musical vision" by New York saxophonist John O'Gallagher, Olly studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Trinity Laban, graduating with a First Class Honours and a Distinction respectively. His 2019 album Scathed Citizens earned widespread critical acclaim and toured 17 dates across the UK, including Symphony Hall Birmingham and Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. A bold and prolific creator, Olly leads multiple projects including Houndsbleat, who have performed sell-out shows at the London Jazz Festival, and has performed at Ronnie Scott's, the Vortex Jazz Club, and internationally across Europe and Mexico. His latest album, In Those Remote Stars, is out in 2026 on Resonant Postcards.
