The Night
Tom Ford's Soho Songbook is Alfie's with the mystery gone and the standard kept: Tom Ford on piano, with his band, playing jazz originals and classics with a Soho twist above Greek Street. The martinis are proper, the piano is a studio grand, and two houses run Saturday, 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
The Music
Tom Ford has spent his career at the piano, and this songbook is where he plays it his way: Gershwin, Porter and Arlen alongside his own writing, in one of the most intimate headline rooms the Club runs. His band knows the room and knows when to hold back, so the standards land as they should and the originals land as something new.
A songbook show at Alfie's means the instrumental tunes are played close: an arm's length from the piano, a martini within reach, the songs your grandparents courted to and the ones Tom Ford has made his own. Saturdays here run two houses and both tend to go. Come for the standards, stay for the originals, and don't be surprised if you can't always tell which is which.
