Bassist Tom Dring throws Alfie's Christmas party.
Tom has become a busy session bassist on the London and Birmingham scenes, working with Gilad Atzmon, Soweto Kinch, Alan Barnes and Jacob Collier, and playing the Barbican and The O2 along the way. From Derby to the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with Michael Janisch and Jasper Høiby, he cites Ray Brown and Christian McBride, and you will hear both in the way he swings a band.
The Night
This Christmas, Soho Live Studios puts twelve rising stars of jazz in lights. Soho's City of Stars, a Soho Jazz Festival series, spotlights the artists we believe in most, one night each at Alfie's Jazz Club and the Piano Bar at Jack Solomons, hand-picked for the moment just before everyone else catches on.
Christmas at Alfie's Jazz Club, Greek Street: candlelight, curated art, a studio grand, a Soho Vodka Martini, and a bass player who keeps the whole party moving.
