The Night
The last Saturday before Christmas, and Koko Collective pull the cracker: a band that swings hard, a studio grand, and Alfie's one flight up above Greek Street, lit up for the season with the martinis in festive order. Two houses, 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, and this is the most wanted Saturday of the year. Paper hats optional, dancing in your seat compulsory.
The Music
Koko Collective is a band of London players dedicated to anything that swings, led by saxophonist and clarinettist Arran Kent, with members who have come through Tantz, Nubiyan Twist and Noya Rao. The 1940s are their home ground, from Charlie Parker to the big bands he grew out of, and they played Soho Jazz Festival '26 right here at Alfie's.
The Christmas Cracker is the swing era's festive songbook at full tilt: Jingle Bells the way the big bands did it, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town with a bebop head, and the blues for anyone who has had enough of the tinsel. Their third Alfie's date of the season, and the one to finish on. The early house is the warm up, the late house is the Christmas party.
