The Music
Bassist Stuart Barker brings a lucky trio to Alfie's: Harry Ashworth on piano and Alfonso Vitale on drums. Stuart is a Soho Jazz Festival artist and a Soho Live Studios regular.
Stuart left Birmingham Conservatoire with the course prize and has played the Barbican and the Cheltenham and Brecon jazz festivals, worked with Clark Tracey and Simon Spillett, and supported Snarky Puppy and Laura Mvula. Harry Ashworth studied music at Oxford, plays piano and organ, and is a Soho Live Studios regular; his heroes run from Bud Powell to Herbie Hancock. Alfonso Vitale, from Messina, keeps time in Tony Kofi's Portrait of Cannonball.
The Night
Superstition stops at the door. At 49 Greek Street, Alfie's Jazz Club is candlelit, the art is on the walls, the studio grand is open and the Soho Vodka Martini is the only ritual that matters.
