Saturday Night in Soho is Alfie's doing what it was built for: a Soho jazz star, chosen by the Soho Live Studios producers, live one flight up above Greek Street with the martinis proper and the studio grand warmed up. Two houses, 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, both close, both quick to go. The name lands closer to the night; the standard never moves.
The Music
Saturdays at Alfie's carry the week's biggest expectation, so the producers book accordingly: a headline voice or bandleader from the Club's roster, handed the most intimate headline room the Club runs and a crowd dressed for it. The set list bends to whoever takes the stage, ballads to burners, and the second house always digs deeper than the first. Trust the room, and the room delivers. The regulars keep coming back blind, which tells you everything.
An arm's length from the band is the whole offer: no pit, no rail, just a first floor room where the singer can hear your glass land on the table. Jazz as a night out, done properly, with two sittings on Saturday and both in the habit of selling through, name announced or not. Dress up, arrive early, order the martini.
