Detroit saxophonist Houston Patton steps up from the Piano Bar to Alfie's with a full band. He played the Discovery stage at Soho Jazz Festival '26.
Houston learned the horn from his father, played gospel in church, and studied with Wendell Harrison, one of Detroit's saxophone legends. He has played Cliff Bell's and the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe, headlined the WJZZ Legacy Jazz Series at Jazz Cafe Detroit, and in New York stood on the bandstand at Minton's Playhouse in Harlem. He leads his own quintet, Quintessential, whose debut is Here We Are, and names Cannonball Adderley as a hero.
