The Music
Bassist Tom Dring leads a night of swing at Alfie's. Tom is a Soho Live Studios regular, at home at Piano Bar Soho and Alfie's Jazz Club.
From Derby to the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with Michael Janisch and Jasper Høiby, Tom has become a busy session bassist on the London and Birmingham scenes. He has worked with Gilad Atzmon, Soweto Kinch, Alan Barnes and Jacob Collier, played the Barbican and The O2, and leads his own trio and sextet. He cites Ray Brown and Christian McBride, and you will hear both in the way he swings a band.
The Night
Soho is in full festive swing. At 49 Greek Street: candlelight, curated art, a studio grand, a Soho Vodka Martini, and a bass player who makes the whole room move.
