The Music
Detroit saxophonist Houston Patton is back at the Piano Bar. He played the Discovery stage at Soho Jazz Festival '26 and has quickly become a Soho Live Studios regular.
Houston grew up in the Detroit tradition, playing gospel in church before jazz took hold, and found his first professional home in Kevin Jones and Tenth World, a band that mixes jazz and soul with the rhythms of the African diaspora. He plays his hometown's great rooms, Cliff Bell's and the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe among them, has headlined the WJZZ Legacy Jazz Series at Jazz Cafe Detroit. He calls risk part of the music, right down to going for the really high note mid-gig.
